Almost 1 in 4 children experience bullying
As part of its #There4Every1 campaign, the Anti-Bullying Alliance has launched a new animated short film to help younger children understand bullying and feel confident speaking up. The film uses a playful concept - school bags chatting on a peg - to explore how bullying affects everyone: those who experience it, witness it, and even those who bully others.
Aimed at children aged 4-9, the film encourages talking to a trusted adult and is supported by free classroom activities and guidance for parents and carers

Roots and Wings Support Group for New Parents
New "Roots and Wings" group starting for new parents
Having a new baby can be difficult and bring mixed feelings. "Roots and Wings" is a therapy group for mums and babies (up to the age of 6 months), run by our Parent-Infant Mental Health Services (PIMHS) team and Oldham's NHS Talking Therapies.
We offer a safe, nurturing space to support you and your baby, using breathing exercises, mindfulness, and play to support bonding. We'll help you develop skills to understand and manage feelings like anxiety, low self-worth, self-criticism, and shame.

Dad Matters
Are you a new dad, or about to become a dad? Come and chat to the Dad Matters team
The team are fathers themselves and are more than happy to answer any questions you have about parenting your little one, supporting your partner, and the help available for you in Oldham.
You can drop in and meet the team on the following dates:

The last Thursday of every month 12.00-4.00pm

Safe4Summer
Safe4Summer is an annual partnership campaign which takes place over the summer months (launched 2 June 2025) – involving Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Greater Manchester Police (external link), Greater Manchester Combined Authority (external link), local councils, plus others – with the ultimate aim to keep young people safe.
This includes direct engagement with young people and providing information to parents and carers. The campaign also promotes and puts emphasis on social responsibility.
Support for New Parents and Parents To Be - Baby Bonding
Baby Bonding is a free five-week course, for just one hour each week, for parents of babies from 28 weeks conception to up to one year.
It teaches how you can develop a strong bond and build a relationship with your baby from before they are born and through the early stages of their life.
Each hour-long session will help you learn about baby’s brain development and ways to understand and communicate through fun activities.
It's particularly helpful if you are feeling anxious or worried.

FireSmart
FireSmart aims to work directly with high-risk individuals, within Greater Manchester, aged 17 and under, who are exhibiting signs of fire setting behaviour.
Through FireSmart they offer a free, confidential programme to deliver prevention education and advice to both the individual and referrer.
Anyone can be referred onto this programme from a variety of sources including parents, teachers, Youth Justice Board, Probation Service and other services.
They run one to one sessions with the individual referred and the total number of visits carried out will vary depending on each individual circumstance. They can be delivered at one of their fire stations, and education or setting.
Sessions cover:
- Understanding risks and consequences of fire-setting behaviour
- Understanding why the individual is choosing to set fires
- Raising awareness of dangers involved in fire-setting behaviour
